Practicing evidence based homeopathy

Evidence based practice (EBP) revolves around improved patient outcomes. Health professionals use the best evidence possible to make clinical decisions for individual patients. It involves complex and conscientious decision making based on the available evidence, and also on patient characteristics, situations, and preferences.

EBP recognizes that health care is individualized and ever changing. Finally, I would say EBP is the formalisation of the care process based on requirements of individual patient. This individualisation is practiced by homeopathic physicians for the last 200 years.

Homeopathy is a system of therapeutics founded in 1796 by Samuel Hahnemann on the principle that “like cures like”. Homeopathy, since its inception, has been used to treat a wide range of illnesses based on individualisation or in a way EBP. Hahnemann was the first person who advocated this strongly.

1 December 2009 – World AIDS Day — HIV and Homeopathy

hivAs per data from the AIDS Epidemic Update there are more people living with HIV than ever before as people are living longer due to the beneficial effects of antiretroviral therapy and population growth. However the number of AIDS-related deaths has declined by over 10% over the past five years as more people gained to access to the life saving treatment. UNAIDS and WHO estimate that since the availability of effective treatment in 1996, some 2.9 million lives have been saved.

I feel these encouraging results will keep the momentum to make this earth HIV free.

Expert Systems in Homeopathic Softwares

System is an organization of functionally interactive units for the achievement of a common goal. All systems have inputs, outputs, and feedback, and maintain a basic level of equilibrium. For example, in the human body the heart functions to support the circulatory system, which is vital to the survival of the entire body.

And, an expert is someone widely recognized as a reliable source of technique or skill whose faculty for judging or deciding rightly, justly, or wisely is accorded authority and status by their peers or the public in a specific well-distinguished domain.

Spurious drugs under homeopathic label

In US, many people lost their sense of smell using Zicam nasal spray, a cold remedy they thought would be safer than other medicines because it was sold as homeopathic (!!).

Zicam’s homeopathic label allowed it to be marketed for a decade without a review for safety or effectiveness by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Homeopathic products — over-the-counter remedies that use plant, mineral or animal derivatives — don’t need marketing clearance from the FDA under U.S. rules.

Utilities essential to keep the system in good shape

Hello,

I hope this message meets you in good health & spirit.

For long, I could not write to you about any event or happening at NHMC Alumni platform because of certain reasons. This year I had seen two major breakdown of my computer system where I lost nearly all my data, and each time it took much efforts to revive it back. It is really important to take backups timely, and would like to tell you that I found following utilities essential to keep the system in good shape -

1. ZoneAlarm Firewall
2. AVG Antivirus
3. CCleaner for crap cleaning and registry maintenance

If you don’t have any experience with these softwares, please read the details before installation. You can find all these freeware at www.filehippo.com

Now, lets talk homeopathy…

This is always perplexing situation whether we need to give more emphasis to location of the disease or the person. Dr. Gyan Wadhwani says “The Site of the disease (Location), for the homoeopathic physician, is of importance only in those cases, where the pathology has advanced so much so as to obliterate the General features of the patient. When we talk about Seat of the disease, we are talking about the entire morbid constitution that is giving rise to manifestations in the form of various illnesses…”

Dr. Gyan mentioned his opinions with the help of a clinical case. Read his elaboration on the topic – http://www.spiritindia.com/health-care-news-articles-14009.html

I am sure you will appreciate the case.

With warm regards

Dr. Anil Singhal
