Remove homeopathic HCG weight loss products from the market

In last couple of months I have received many queries related to availabality of homeopathic HCG for weight loss. I got SMS, emails, phone calls from various places like Chennai, Nainital, Delhi, Bombay, Madras, Kolkata, and even from Dubai to have homeopathic HCG.

Why there is an increase of search for homeopathic HCG in India and Asia continent ?

Actually, last month US FDA issued seven Warning Letters to companies marketing over-the counter (OTC) HCG products that are labeled as “homeopathic” for weight loss. The letters warn the companies that they are violating federal law by selling drugs that have not been approved, and by making unsupported claims for the substances. There are no FDA-approved HCG drug products for weight loss.

Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is a hormone produced by the human placenta and found in the urine of pregnant women. HCG is FDA-approved as an injectable prescription drug for the treatment of some cases of female infertility and other medical conditions.

The labeling for the “homeopathic” HCG products states that each product should be taken in conjunction with a very low calorie diet. There is no substantial evidence HCG increases weight loss beyond that resulting from the recommended caloric restriction.  Consumers on a very low calorie diet are at increased risk for side effects including gallstone formation, electrolyte imbalance, and heart arrhythmias.

“These HCG products marketed over-the-counter are unproven to help with weight loss and are potentially dangerous even if taken as directed,” said Ilisa Bernstein, acting director of the Office of Compliance in FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. “And a very low calorie diet should only be used under proper medical supervision.”

“Deceptive advertising about weight loss products (Homeopathic HCG) is one of the most prevalent types of fraud,” said David Vladeck, director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection. “Any advertiser who makes health claims about a product is required by federal law to back them up with competent and reliable scientific evidence, so consumers have the accurate information they need to make good decisions.”

That means, those homeopathic HCG products are routed or shipped to India, where homeopathy is in main stream of healthcare system as AYUSH. People are aware about homeopathic medicines. And, some how those spurious drugs are going to be maliciously implanted here.

Another twist I noticed that certain homeopathic pharmacies are ready to exploit the popularity of homeopathic HCG. They have created certain homeopathic patents which are not having any HCG but a mixture of certain homeopathic medicines in potency, like, Anacardium Occ, Antimonium Crud, Calc Carb for obesity, Fucus Ves for thyroid support, Kali Bichromicum, Oleander, Sabadilla, Staphysagia to curb stress eating, Adrenalinum for glandular support, ACTH, Cortisone, Hypothalamus for appetite regulation, Pituitarum to help with HGH production, Thyroidinum for metabolic support, and more. And keeping the name of product as “Homeopathic HCG”.

Do you think this is homeopathic preparation?

Homeopathic pharmacies are really exploiting the name of homeopathy. What they are promoting as homeopathic medicine are actually not homeopathic in any sense. I feel, we should condemn this, let people be aware about this, and get organised to stop the bad name to our system – HOMEOPATHY.

Enjoy safe homeopathy.

  1. Charles Fredrick Samuel Hahnemann, who had brought to light the natural way of healing with potency energy medicines, would weep if he gets to see the mish mash of multi medicinal energies in this compound and that too for slimming, a shame that the good name of homoeopathy is being used for this quick fix.

He had recommended single medicine, single potency, minimum dosage and single dose.

I do not understand how this compound could bye pass the scrutiny of intelligent people who doubt so much when it comes to treatment.
